Charity Donation of Children Furniture from Changhua Christian Hospital (Myanmar Case Study)
24 November 2015
Routing
Kaohsiung, Taiwan - Yangon, Myanmar

Cargo
181 packages of children furniture donated to Compassion In Action, a Myanmar NGO building a orphange in Hlegu Township.

The Challenge
1. Our customer is a Charity Organization operating in Kaohsiung, Taiwan (http://www2.cch.org.tw/cch_english/).
2. To advise the customer on customs clearance process at Yangon Port, Myanmar. The shipment must qualify for tax & duty exemption on the basis of it being a charity donation.
3. To ensure smooth customs clearance and deliver all 181 packages without damage to the orphange.

Our Solution
Our DNA Taiwan team (Apollo Logistics) shipped out the cargo from Kaohsiung using a 40'HC container. The customs brokerage team at Dawn Shipping (Myanmar) advised the customer and the Myanmar NGO on the different steps of securing approval for tax & duty exemption. This included applying for endorsement letters issued by the Hlegu Town Council and the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief & Resettlement (situated in the captial Nay Pi Daw) overseeing charity donations into the country.

After completion of customs clearance at Yangon, we arranged to deliver the container to the actual site located at Tharyarkung Village in the township. A personnel from Dawn Shipping (Myanmar) was present thoroughout the entire delivery process to coordinate the devanning works and assist the Myanmar NGO to receive the cargo. Regular updates were also provided to the customer in Kaohsiung.

Well-Done!
